Certain areas of Lochaber have now been identified as being infested with Varroa but is still extremely fortunate in that it remains one of the few parts of the British Isles that is not infested with many of the other bee diseases.
It is therefore vital that we control those areas that have Varroa as this is not only beneficial for our own bees, it helps the native feral bee population and may be able to help with
research into disease management.
We therefore respectfully request that bees from other parts of the country are NOT brought or sold into Lochaber.
You will find that we are a friendly bunch and as such we will do whatever we can to help supply you with disease-free bees from within our area.
Please contact the Secretary for further information.
